Easy and Crispy Masaledar Fries

Easy and Crispy Masaledar Fries

Good morning lovelies!

Do you love French Fries? Like who doesn't? It is something that is universally loved among adults and children. And when you transform " French" fries to "Desi" Fries by making it Masaledar, I am sure the fries are going to munched in a blink of an eye. When I made this for a trial it just vanished into thin air.

My siblings were looking at me for more. It is super delicious and easy when you want to feed your little ones something super easy in the evenings.

I have noticed that during the time from Magrib prayer time  (sunset) to Isha prayer time is the time when you literally die with hunger pangs. No matter how early or late I had my lunch or tea. I always thought if it was just me. When a dear friend of mine, Shehnaz (Shanu) also posted the same on her Instagram stories and she says it's a universal law (probably being an advocate she compares everything to some law) šŸ˜…šŸ˜… but it definitely makes sense šŸ˜˜šŸ˜˜

Also this video/post was a story hop done in collaboration with other talented foodies, check out my IG profile to know what they cooked too.
Now onto the fries, cornflour makes them super crispy, so you don't need to follow so many steps to make them crisp and a flavor bomb explodes in your mouth with the spices. Add salt a little more than usual in the fries because while frying the salt drains down in the oil.

Imagine feeding your kids chips/fries that are store-bought and with all the preservatives and other additives.
Ps - It is literally horrifying if you read what all ingredients goes in the packet chips that we get for our little munchkins from stores. If making these fries are so easy, just 10-15 minutes of your time and some basic spices from your pantry why feed our little one's chips/fries with artificial flavor additives etc.
Let's make some Zabardast and Crispy Masaledar Fries.

Ingredients :

  • šŸŸ1 large Potato (washed thoroughly and cut lengthwise, dab water if necessary )
  • šŸŸ1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • šŸŸ1/4 tsp Red Chilli Flake
  • šŸŸ1/4 tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • šŸŸ1/2 tsp Paprika/Red Chilli Powder
  • šŸŸ1 tsp Chicken Masala Powder
  • šŸŸ 4 tbsp Corn Flour
  • šŸŸSalt, as required (use a little more than usual, the oil drains away the salt and spices)
  • šŸŸVegetable oil to fry

Instructions :

  1. Cut the potatoes lengthwise and thin.
  2. Transfer to a container with lid.
  3. Now add the spices, cornflour, and salt. Close the lid shake the container vigorously so that all the powders are evenly coated.
  4. Now add a tbsp of oil (optional) and mix again
  5. Now deep-fry in a Kadai or deep pan for 7 minutes without touching it so that the coating doesn't budge from the fries.
  6. Flip and cook for another 7 minutes or more, until golden brown.
  7. Drain on kitchen towel/tissue.
  8. Enjoy with your favorite dip or ketchup!

Notes:

You may use other spices like tandoori masala powders instead of chicken masala powder, oregano, etc
